Parked in small car park on north side of lane below Blackingstone Rock. From there just east of car park, short track about 75 metres to another lane, east about twenty metres to a wooden gate with extra wooden bars added to the top. Lead to track through woodland. Stayed on track heading east and north east and gaining height. After about three hundred metres, through a gate, then continued on as far as track went in that direction. Then through bracken and over fence to west into field. Could see farm buildings to west. Gentle uphill climb. At top of field, pillar in amongst rocks in an enclosure surrounded by new barbed wire fence. Cap missing. Views to west, north and east. Afterwards climbed Blackingstone Rock which has a helpful flight of steps to the top. Narrow and steep. Great views from there, could look north to where pillar is located to north of woods.

Parked in Blackingstone car park. Walked to within 15feet of trig without climbing over any gates or fences, via country lane, track through woods and tall bracken, until we came to barbed wire fence.I could clearly see the trig but it has it's own barbed wire enclosure.

It's a tricky trig to get to, but since I went there on Sunday there was no-one around.

Awkward access along a tree-lined lane and then a hike uphill through bracken. Pillar lies within a rocky outcrop in a sheep field at the summit of the hill.

We drove past the Blackingstone CP and found another car park another 500m down the road. We then backtracked and took a path up to the right. This led to a gate that could be opened and then up to the left an incline took us straight to the trig. No barbed wire anywhere. Fab views and lots of beautiful gorse.

Followed earlier advice and parked in Blackingstone Rock (an impressive lump of granite worth another visit) CP, the simply followed track through plantations. Much felling and replanting, but it's easy enough to make your way to the summit. I didn't bother crossing the last barbed wire fence as I was close enough to "bag it" in my book and to check out the nice views of Dartmoor to the NW.

We parked at the parking place at Blackingstone Rock and approached through the woodland from there. On the map this is shown as scrub but is in fact quite mature. Follow the track just to the east of the parking and if you keep to the western edge of the wood you will come to the trig. It looks as though this wood had public access at one time because there are the remains of a waymarked trail. Pleasant views west. Plug missing.

Another pillar on private land. The nearest is the public road along the base of the hill, but you won't see it from there.

The pillar is on top of *that* hill. This was taken from the top of Blackingstone Rock (then it started snowing).
