Roadside layby is very convenient, but an absolute bugger to leave if you're heading west. The footpath at the east end is fast becoming invisible, but it *is* there, under the nettles, behind the unlocked gate and alongside the trailer. It quickly leads up the side of a steep and rather grotty hill, before disappearing into the wood. You wouldn't stumble upon this path by accident - it's narrow and concealed, but there are plenty of footpath signs along the way just to reassure you that yes, this is a path, honest. Eventually emerges onto a grassy track, from which a path through the wood leads to the clearing with the logs and the mast compound. Pillar is behind an (easily scaled) barbed wire fence, and sits on a bramble-covered mound. It's not the most pleasant of locations, and it offers no views.

I think we could have at this point taken the gate leading to the bridleway path and cut across to the other footpath at the old cars. But we went along the main road to find the same path from the other direction. Thankfully the trig is easy to get too.

Parked on a minor road at Lower Cotts off the A4103. Walked NW along a greatly widened and enhanced public row that is now capable of taking very large vehicles (to service the apple orchard?). Footpath then takes a U-turn proceeding up the hill through Rough Plantation onto White Hill (a HuMP). Paths a little misleading here but not too difficult to find the trig in a fenced off area on the reservoir hump and next to a comms mast. Views to the north are quite extensive, but woodland blocks any other direction. Pillar is in good condition. We returned to the car by taking the public path due east directly down the hill.
