Fabulous views, loved the tiled base to the trig. Parked in the free layby opposite the official paid car park and did a circular walk over the Wrekin and Little Hill

KJ Distant visibility not good from this popular summit today as the S winds were strengthening with the impending arrival of Storm Kathleen, but this cooled us down with the temp unseasonably in the high teens. Parked opposite the Buckatree Hotel and made a circuit round the N side of the Wrekin, taking the steeper much less used ascent up the SW ridge from Little Hill before descending the main path and then adding in the Ercall. Great viewpoint with the trig having its base decorated with tiled artworks and an accompanying toposcope.

Busy walk up from the car park situated at the bottom. Kids loved exploring the hill tops and we watched a number of mountain bikers going down.

Having seen The Wrekin from so many of my evening walks recently from various hills aroumd the West Midlands, I though I ought to bag this Trig Point too. Loving all the hand made tiles on the concrete plinth making the pillar base. ### Updated position later to one taken from eTrex SE being slightly more accurate than the GPS module in the old Galaxy S3 used to run the original Trigpointing app.

Impromptu trig bag en route from Brecon to our onward destination. Found a parking space on the road no problem and headed up the trail through the woods. Surprisingly had the summit to ourselves for a wee while considering how busy it was on the way up! Loved the tiled plinth and nice to pick out the Shropshire hills in the distance which we'd passed by earlier on our journey. The top of the trig is looking a bit weathered hence the slightly damaged rating.

Although damaged, still looking good, someone has organised to put an array of homemade tiles around its base, which gives it some extra interest, very beautiful location with views to die for, alongside a great topascope to understand the lie of the land around.

Really impressed with this. Free parking at the bottom of a clear path near to The Bukatree Hotel. Good path to walk up and superb views at the top. I really enjoyed this one. Nice second view point at the top with landmarks to where you are looking. Well worth a visit.

Parked on the road to the south west of the pillar, near Rose Cottage. Took the footpath from there up to the public right of way (PRoW) to the south west of Little Hill. Then took the PRoW up to the pillar, which involves of steep climb of around 250 metres. The pillar is a primary and is very close to the TV mast. There is also a toposcope nearby

I'm sure this trig would get 10/10 in daylight. Parked at N52° 40.790' W2° 32.188' and very surprised to see so many cars still parked as it was getting dark by now. Headed up the track which is very good and also surprised to see people joining us this late. Didn't take too long to get to the trigpoint, passing the mast on the way, sadly didn't bag the 3rd item (TP8532 - Warning Light Hill) , it was late and cold and I hadn't done enough research, so guess one day I might see the view. Looks like given the route we almost walked over the surface block! Also looks like the block sits at the summit (SJ 62836 08203).

What a wonderful mountain. Its' easy access on a nice wide path and amazing views make this such a popular walk. Hundreds of people of all shapes and sizes were making their way up on a lovely summer evening. The reward at the top is a dry grassy bed and a view of 17 counties (apparently) Great to see so many getting outdoor exercise and heading straight to the trig point for an endearing touch.

Not an easy one this - probably of all the hills the one I've seen most without actually visiting, so join the crowds with some trepidation...the heavy grey skies and slanted sun make for a predictably wonderful mountain clear view. Hi to the other trigger spotted on the top - Beacon Ring, Presilli and Black Mountains where I've been walking one side of me and in the distance Manchester and the beautiful Pennines where I'm on my way to. What a great place.

A nice walk from a hotel we were staying at nearby. Walked over the top. It was and a bit wet and very windy but not too bad. The walk from the top to the south west is quite steep. Lots of photos on the site already so didn't up load one.

We had a lovely, chilly walk up to the summit this morning and decided to pick up this Waymark on our visit. The views today were spectacular considering the cold and the rain driving in from the direction of Wales. The walk down was even colder as we had a couple of flurries of snow! We love the Wrekin, and we are likely to make this trip many times in the future.

Busy hill, especially on a Sunday and in good weather. Pillar has some damage to all top edges, all seem rounded off, otherwise in good condition. Cap missing, asphalt plug; all sight holes closed; tatty coat of white paint - FB, sider, all been painted. Only redeeming feature is the 360deg panoramic views.

I approached from the northeast, having started out at Wellington train station. There were quite a number of other walkers about given that it was midweek. The visibility at the top was good and I was able to spot most of the landmarks on the topograph. I descended the steep path to the southwest, heading on to Ironbridge.

Excellent views today. Not perfect but, Berwyns,Malverns, Barr Beacon, Cannock Chase, Southern Peak District - The Roaches and Alderney Edge (I think) were visible. Fairly crowded being Bank Holiday - usual range of footware on show. How people walk up there in flip flops I'll never understand.

A fantastic Shropshire Hill. This was my second visit to the summit and the weather this time was so much better. Blue skys with excellent views in all directions. This has to be my favourite hill in the whole of Shropshire. I have also worked on the TV transmitter tower many times.

I visit this trig regularly. Thought it was worth a new log on this occasion to point out that someone has slapped a coat of white paint on the pillar. Coverage is not complete, and there are runs in places. The runs were still tacky, so very recently done. Unfortunately, I forgot my camera today, but I will add a new photo next week.

Found this one whilst on a mission to find the Wrekin Havoc geocache, lovely location and the views are usually great, though there was a heavy mist, so we couldn't see much of them!

I suppose the corners are nibbled off enough to warrent the classification but its marginal. What a change yesterdays 13 were in warm sunny weather that left my face glowing today winter is back with a vengeance snow and biting wind :-)

This is a very popular exercise venue for the Shropshire locals and a well laid track leads all they way to the summit through attractive woodland. Great views of the rather flat surrounding countryside and over to further away hills. There is even somewhere to grab a coffee on the way down. Beware fast travelling mountain bikers and excited dogs.

I’ve been to this trig many times, but have made it a rule to revisit with GPS, making a note of the date and time before logging a visit. Went to see the Red Arrows fly past: they were right on time.

So, the footie season starts again and it's off to Shrewsbury to see Lincoln open their account with 3 points! This was the perfect day to climb the Wrekin if you wanted to lose a stone in sweat! Still, the views were spectacular from the Long Mynd, round to the Clees; over the Cheshire Plain and west to Wales. Been here several times before but never logged the pillar in those far-off days. Anyway, there is some graffiti on it and it has been chipped away abit but on the whole it's not bad. Incidentally, the whole of the northern side of the Wrekin, which includes the pillar, is up for sale at the moment; the local Wildlife Trusts have formed a consortium to try to buy it and the National Trust are also interested; let's hope whoever gets it makes sure it stays in the public domain as this is a great spot!

Once again we ascended the Wrekin in the rain - got even wetter on the descent but at least rain was mainly on our backs.

Dusk visit in a vain attempt to find some snow. Just a dusting. Can more people log this on the way to Salop if it means Shrewsbury Town get beaten.

Wrekin Trig on a previous visit(19/03/00) The Trig Point looking southwards. The Topo to the right was erected in 1977 for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Its still in good, unvandalized condition. Snowdon is marked.©fasgadh
