Parked in NT car park to west of Beacon. About 75 north along the road then east along footpath through the camp site, just starting to get ready to reopen for Easter. About five hundred metres east across field and along field boundary then north uphill. Very exposed at the top. Very difficult to hold still to take photographs. Built of stone materials. No F B, but does have OS plaque, so knew this must be the TP. Also has usual spider, cap plugged but there is a direction indicator on top. Fabulous views even though difficult to stand there for long. Update after reading other logs, seems the original pillar has been built over. FB covered over presumably, and left recorded as none as it is not visible. Also presumed pillar is in good condition underneath its outer layer of bricks. Maybe one day it will be uncovered again.

Parked in the Wheal Coates NT car park, walked through the camp site onto the open hill. What have they done to this TP.... No Flush Bracket but they kept the spider. So just to make it interesting a bit of the history of the hill and Trig. This hill was a historic beacon site where signal fires were lit to warn the country of imminent sea-borne invasion. Beacon fires are still lit here when the local community celebrates important events. In prehistoric times the hill was a burial and ceremonial site, and there are four Bronze Age barrows dating from 2000 to 1500BC, one directly beneath the trig point. The Beacon was a coastguard lookout from 1914 to 1926, when it was replaced by the lookout at St Agnes Head. In the Second World War it again acted as an early warning system, when a Type 57 mobile radar station operated here, its hand-turned aerial scanning the sea for enemy ships. A coin from the reign of Julian (AD 360) was dug up near the summit in 1910. You can see a replica at St Agnes Museum.

Easy to locate and access. Granite stone covering obscures FB, but this is the only real fault with this pillar. The views and location are excellent, and it is well worth a look. Visited while walking the SW Coast Path.

Rebuilt in local stone - it looks as though the actual pillar is still there and has been faced with stone to accomodate the viewfinder, as the spider looks original. Excellent views. Tarmac plug.

This pillar is more interesting as it is not concrete and has a plaque on top with distances to nearby points. The views are outstanding on a good day, but can be very windy, like it was today.

Logged as damaged - either it is buried within, and most likely thereby damaged, or it was demolished to create space for the topograph - which does state 'with permission and assistance of Ordnance Survey'. The spider does appear to be embedded on original concrete in my photo.

The Beacon is very much a local landmark, and the views are extensive over land and sea. A steady climb - much evidence of the industrial mining past in the area.
