A little walk up from Hallaton. The gate at the entrance to the field had a 'Bull in Field' sign which always worries me! Thankfully no bulls today (that I could see anyway), only sheep. And they don't worry me. All good with the pillar, lovely views back towards Hallaton.

parked at the top of the road and started walking along the bw,was startled by a big pick up truck racing towards us with a massive alsation on the back,turns out the guy is on the look out for gypsies casing his isolated farm at the bottom of the hill,he was fine with us being there and apologetic for disturbing us,after informing us he had an axe and a shotgun with him in case we were up to no good he left us to bag the pillar,quite an adventure!!!

Parked at bottom of lane and walked up lane which turns into a track . Along footpath then slight left across field. Not sure how long it will stay upright there are either fox or badger tunnels under it.

Having won a beautiful 'TrigHunter' coin at an geocaching event last night , I decided that the first cache it visited would have to be a YOSM ! I parked to the West where the 'unsuitable for vehicles' track began for a 20 minute walk , altho' it would have been possible to drive to within 700m of the pillar , as the track is broad and well surfaced until the turn for the farm . After that the bridleway becomes very muddy and rutted . A level wander following the contours and being followed by a few curious cattle for an easy find .The pillar is in good condition with some great views . Badgers have excavated a sett downslope , beware of the holes !

Highly visible and easily accessible being at the side of a public bridleway. I parked to the south and followed the track up through Fearn Farm. Pillar in good condition and has some extensive views over the surrounding countryside.

A fine location. Walked in from W along bridleway - and got drenched and muddy in the process. But the sun came out - with a rainbow - as I got to the TP, which stands towards the end of a long ridge in a sheep pasture. TP in good condition with original metalwork, and lovely, far ranging views to W and S, which more than made up for the wetting.

finally made it,this trig as been on my list on several days out but for 1 reason or another I never seemed to get to it,after this I only have 1 leicestershire Trig left to do, parked at the farm and walked up with no problems.

I drove up the track to Fearn Farm and stopped. The farmer (a very nice man) was busy painting his lambs blue but stopped as I approached. I asked if it would be OK to leave my car there while I continued on foot up the track to the OS trig point. “Why walk when you can drive all the way to the pillar?” says he. I thought he’d mistaken my Peugeot 407 for a Land Rover but he told me it was dry and smooth so I took him at his word and carried on. I reached the gate and chickened out of driving though and up to the T/P but with hindsight, I probably could have done so. In truth, I’ve driven onto steam rally parking fields that were steeper and rougher than that hill. Anyway, the pillar is in good condition with all its metalwork in place. The view to the south was excellent, overlooking the valley. A badger has obviously taken up residence a few feet away. All in all, it’s a very nice location and well worth a visit.

The thing about this trig is the fantastic view you get across the valley. Mind the cows. They chase and have large prongs on them. Situated at the edge of a field on the hilltop.
