Another terrific Weardale TP, great panoramic views, and very simple to get to, up a clear ATV track from the SW. 0.62 of a mile there and back, and 89ft of ascent - pleasingly un-strenuous!

Quick nip up from minor road to SW over rough ground. Pillar is VGC; it has a replacement top plug of an indeterminate material not seen before - not obviously asphalt or mortar; RHS sight hole open. Panoramic views.

Flat topped hill with pillar adjacent to mine working. Great cloud inversion with clear views to Cross Fell, Collier Law and Horseshoe hill.

Parked at Rookhope and bagged the three trigs on a high level walk above the village during this glorious March in 2012. This was an afterthought! I sat on Bolts Law trig to the north and was going to head to Horseshoe Hill but then spotted this on the very bottom of my map. As it made a nice horseshoe above Rookhope, I made the long walk over to this great view point. Firstly on an easy track, then on over the totally pathless ridge to the north of the trig. Great views an a great spot. As I had parked at the flume arch at the other end of Rookhope, it was a long hours walk back to the car.

Levelled for height in 1955. Last maintained by the OS, 3rd August 2000. SITE VISIT: Approached from unclassified road to SW of top. Pillar in good condition. Spider centre plugged with smooth brown plaster. Flush bracket faces 180° south. Vented through east sight hole. 360° open skyline with long views to the SE down Weardale. To the NE, the comms mast on Horseshoe Hill is easily identified.

Situated just off the secondary road between Rookhope and Stanhope. An easy climb up the hill which is rough grassland and sheep are the only company. The trig point is generally in good condition however the centre plug has been removed and the hole filled with a brown resin material. The views are pretty much the same in all directions, rolling hills and moor covered with rough grass and heather.
