Walking with the hedgerow to your right & parallel to the road, the trig is but a short distance amidst the foliage.

We ditched the car and quickly walked to the foot of the banking, and then a very quick scrabble up through the scrub to the trig. Pillar is still in good condition, easy access this way or the older conventional way via the field edge. Revisit for me, but my little trigbagger's 78th pillar.

I've been putting this one off for 11 years...today was the day. I didn't make it easy. The problem is that you feel as if the farm can see you; that plus walkers on the footpath going to the farm made me reject the easier field edge route. Below the pillar the embankment is steep. I walked past it up to a bench where the embankment is easier to get up. Once up I had to push through a hedge to get into the trig field. From there I managed to bag the pillar, and so exited down the steep embankment back onto the ring road. Pillar in good condition and should be safe from ongoing roadworks. My first new pillar in my home county since January 2019.

The East Leeds Orbital Route works have commenced at the Whinmoor end of the A6120, and having been told that "all the trees have gone", I went out this morning to see if the trig was safe. It is - for now. The huge roundabout that will begin construction soon is still a good half-mile from the trig pillar, and it looks unlikely to be affected. In fact, it may shortly become extremely easily accessible - there will be a beautiful new tarmac footpath running directly beneath the embankment it sits on, so it should be the work of a moment to visit.

I was obviously not the first person to do this recently, as the weeds and foliage were already trampled in a beeline straight to the trig. Being careful to avoid crushing any of the knee-height cereal crops, the trig appears at a rise right on the edge of the drop away down to the road.
