We were attending the orienteering championship this weekend, but due to the long drive decided to head up a day early. We spent the night in the nearby car park and headed up to the viewpoint and trig for some breakfast. Surprised as to how good the view are here.

Large pile of poo is now merely a dodgy looking brown stain. No punctures incurred on the way up, either. Guess I'm luckier than this trig's previous visitors! From car park, walk up the road until the footpath crosses over it, then take the left hand path until it drops downhill. At that point, hack through the narrow gap in the bracken on the right, and the pillar is just around the corner. Some stunning views across the valley from those parts of the path that aren't enclosed by gorse, but none from the actual pillar, sadly.

Some great views from nearby, although there was a large pile of poo in close proximity, I'm guessing it was human (not that I'm an expert) but it looked like they really needed to go.

Short walk north westwards from car park at top of Woolbeding Common, in amongst ferns. Good views from nearby. Just becoming daylight on a fine December morning.

In bracken, amongst mature trees, no view but good views nearby. From Woolbeding NT free carpark at view point. Double puncture from potholes on Woolbeding lane, but luckily Mid Sussex tyres in Midhurst very helpful- and know the spot well!

Quick walk from the car park at the top of the common, in a small inconspicuous dead-end path. Carried on around and down the common for better views out the other side SE towards Rogate/Trotton.

Quite a long steady clime up Tote Ln. But it was worth it. The views of the south downs are great. Lovely place for a Trig.

Fourth visit, this time en route from Trotton, in a loop back to Stedham CP. Good southern panorama of the South Downs, and v peaceful lunch spot. S s/hole and centre open, otherwise in vgc, not sure why slightly damaged!

In beautiful rolling countryside, perhaps today enhanced by a lovely misty enshrouded wintry atmosphere. Pillar has open cap with one sight-hole open.

Came up here to bag the nearby HuMP, Telegraph Hill, but found a house sitting on the summit! Never mind, got as close as possible without disturbing the owners, then over here for the trig. Located on open heath land, pillar has some slight cracks and plug missing, otherwise ok. Some good views where the trees allow. Good car park 400m south of the trig.

New Lipchis Way trig #1 (day 1 from Liphook to Midhurst) and a repeat visit for us. Stopped for lunch here as a convenient break point on our 14 mile walk for today. Rather hazy weather limited the views but still a peaceful place to be. Trig missing cap or plug but is otherwise OK.

Visited whilst en-route to the excellent nearby Hollycombe Steam Collection. Nice views to the west. Pillar in good condition, only minor cracks to the surface. Plug missing, unfilled. Remnants of white paint on the pillar.

This is what we love about trigging! When would we ever of come up the tiny little one track lane to have found this little gem of a view. Parked at car park and made the short walk to the trig. Lovely panoramic views south. Trig is damaged with some cracks, cap missing.

no cap or plug, shallow crack halfway up. NT land, fine view. Geocache box lying at base - first I've seen, a wionder no-one has nicked / moved it. 2pm on a fine Sunday, deserted, very different to my 2002 visit.

Caught a glimpse of this one as I ran past it whilst competing in the British Orienteering Championships, part of which used Woolbeding Common. Didn't actually visit the trig - I would have lost 2 or 3 places if I did!

Visited on a very windy day, shared the location with a group flying (or crashing) model aircraft. Walked from Woolbedding Common via Stedham Marsh to Milland and back along the Sussex Border path. Clear day so good views.

Circular walk from Woolbedding Common. Spectacular rhododendron banks, a glorious field of buttercups, a field of friendly white bullocks and a free range pig farm. Notwithstanding all that, I didn't record the condition of the trig!
